Florence County opens shelters

EFFINGHAM, S.C. – The American Red Cross has opened up three shelters for residents of Florence County, and preparing to open up a fourth at Timmonsville High School.

The following locations are being utilized as shelters and open to the Florence County Residents and Visitors:

South Florence High School, 3200 South Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505Lake City High School, 652 North Matthews Road, Lake City, SC 29560Wilson High School, 1411 East Old Marion Highway, Florence, SC 29506The Timmonsville Shelter, 304 Kemper Street, Timmonsville, SC 29161.

If you’re headed to a shelter, it’s important that you bring some key items for yourself.

The American Red Cross encourages people to bring the following items for each member of their family:

Prescription and emergency medicationExtra clothingCot or sleeping padPillowsBlanketsHygiene suppliesImportant documentsAny other comfort itemsSpecial items for children and infants, such as diapers, formulas and toys, should be brought, along with other items for family members who may have other needs
