February 6, 2019

The two people wanted in connection with a shooting in Kendallville were found in a Fort Wayne motel Wednesday morning, Kendallville police said.

Kendallville police said they received a call at 11:05 p.m. Monday reporting possible shots fired near North Main and Wayne streets.

While officers were responding, a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was taken to Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville by two people, a statement from the department said. The victim was transferred to a hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition.

As a result of an investigation, police said, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Kyle Andrew Laverne Gibson, 27, of Kendallville, on an aggravated battery charge.

Kendallville police said they were also trying to find Alexis Jordan, 26, a person of interest who might have information about the shooting.

Gibson and Jordan were both found in Fort Wayne at the Magnuson Hotel, 522 Coliseum Blvd. E., police said.

Gibson has been taken to the Noble County Jail, police said. They said Jordan was interviewed, and no charges have been filed against her at this time.
