Wardens search for teen who’s presumed drowned in Maine
BUXTON, Maine (AP) — Maine Game Wardens are searching for the body of a 17-year-old who’s presumed to have drowned in the Saco River in Buxton.
Witnesses said Steel Crawford, of Freeport, let go of a rope swing and landed awkwardly in the water on Friday. They said he never resurfaced.
Wardens said Crawford and friends were swimming at Pleasant Point Park in Buxton.
Wardens are searching in an area down river of the Route 202 bridge and upriver of the Skelton Dam where water depths are in excess of 50 feet.
