Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society: Chester is a 1-year-old mixed-breed pup with a beautiful red coat. He is full grown and weighs about 17 pounds. Chester loves people, enjoys playtime and is excellent on leash walks.
Cirrus is a 5-year-old long-haired grey and white cat who is ready to find a new home. He arrived pretty matted, so he was given a thorough shave-down, but his beautiful long hair will grow back in time. This cheery fellow is very affectionate.
These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe animal shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. Visit the shelter during adoption hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Mobile adoption hours are noon to 3 p.m Saturday and Sunday, March 23-24, at PetSmart, 3561 Zafarano Drive.
Española Humane: Aries is the most darling 5-year-old dog around. He’s affectionate, playful and absolutely adores being spoiled. Aries is the perfect companion for somebody who wants a dog they can take for walks but also cuddle on the couch with. Aries gets along with other dogs but has the urge to chase cats, so his home should be feline free.
Tilt is feline leukemia positive and will need someone who can have a feline leukemia-positive cat in their home. This gorgeous kitty loves to be held. These and other animals are available for adoption at the shelter, 108 Human Parkway.
The shelter is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Call 505-753-8662 or visit www.espanolahumane.org.
Felines & Friends: T-Wrecks2, almost a year old, was rescued by the driver of a car who saw her fall from the engine compartment of a nearby vehicle. T-Wrecks2 is a very loving girl and enjoys playing with other cats. Her right eye had to be removed, and the vision in her left eye is limited to light and shadow. Cookies ‘n Cream, a handsome 2-year-old boy with a short black and white coat, was rescued with his siblings. Although Cookies ’n Cream would probably enjoy the company of a playful cat of similar age, he would be quite happy to be the only pet in his new home. For more information, call 505-316-CAT1 or visit www.fandfnm.org.
The Horse Shelter: Kilo is a 12-year-old sorrel mare. She has done well with getting relaxed and collected at all of her gaits, and has improved on body position and balance in her faster gaits when traveling in the arena. Kilo loves the trails and always enjoys a nice ride through the hills. She will require an intermediate rider with a quiet and confident demeanor. Kilo’s adoption fee is $750. Find more horses ready for adoption at thehorseshelter.org or call 505-577-2193.
