Holyoke has 2nd fatal shooting in 5 days
HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) — After more than a year and a half without a homicide, Holyoke has had two fatal shootings in less than a week.
Police say 34-year-old Juan Quinones of Springfield was shot several times behind a Cabot Street building at about 1 p.m. Sunday.
He was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he was pronounced dead.
Police Chief James Neiswanger said Monday investigators believe Quinones was targeted by his killer, but the chief didn’t release details.
The chief said police don’t think the shooting is connected with that of 35-year-old Daniel Rodriguez. Rodriquez was found shot several times on a Holyoke city street five days earlier.
There have been no arrests in either slaying.
