Scottsbluff man accused of rape
SCOTTSBLUFF - A Scottsbluff man is accused of forcing a woman to have sex against her will.
Jacob Nerio-Sanchez, alias Jacob Nerio and Jacob Sanchez, 23, has been charged with two counts: forcible sexual assault, a Class II felony; and strangulation, a Class IIIA felony.
Police arrested Nerio-Sanchez after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 24. According to court documents, charges stem from an investigation that began on Aug. 28.
Scottsbluff Police took a report from a woman being treated at the Regional West Medical Center emergency room. The woman alleged that Nerio-Sanchez had sexually assaulted her.
The woman told police she had met Nerio-Sanchez two years ago at a party, but that he had moved to California. On Aug. 27, the woman said, he contacted her via social media. She said she had remembered him and he came to see her during a lunch break from his job. The man returned to work and later, she said, he texted her, asking her if she would be interested in coming to his home.
The woman told police she went to his home. She said she had engaged in consensual kissing with the man when he started acts that she said she told him to stop because he was hurting her. He told her to perform a sex act, which she refused.
After the incident, she said, they left and went and picked up food from a local restaurant. When they returned, she said they were watching a movie, while Nerio-Sanchez ate and she was checking her phone. She alleged that the man then took her phone, putting it out of her reach, pinned her to the bed and raped her. The woman alleged that Nerio-Sanchez choked her and that she had also been crying.
The woman said she left while Nerio-Sanchez was sleeping and went to the emergency room on the evening of Aug. 28.
Nerio-Sanchez was arraigned on charges Wednesday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
