Major traffic delays outside Melbourne Airport

June 10, 2014

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — There were major traffic delays for about five hours at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday after a taxi and two pedestrians collided outside Australia’s second busiest airport.

The pedestrians, two men aged in his 40s and 30s, were taken to hospital following the early morning collision outside the airport’s main entrance, Victoria state police said in a statement.

Departures Drive had been closed to traffic as police investigate the accident, causing major delays at the airport for about five hours as people are diverted to alternative entrances, police said.

The taxi driver was being questioned by police and had not yet been charged.
