Phyllis Mensing Named Correspondent in Bismarck
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ Phyllis Mensing, day supervising editor in the Chicago bureau of The Associated Press, has been named correspondent in charge of the AP’s Bismarck bureau.
The appointment was announced Tuesday by Tena Haraldson, chief of bureau for North Dakota and South Dakota.
Mensing, 39, joined the AP as a part-time newswoman while attending school at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. Following graduation and a year teaching, she rejoined the AP in Sioux Falls in 1972. Other assignments took her to Pierre, S.D., Minneapolis, Fargo, N.D. - where she served as correspondent - and Philadelphia.
Mensing is a native of Mapleton, Minn. She succeeds Philip Brasher, who will transfer to the AP’s Washington bureau to be a regional reporter for Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
