Kurt Krueger: Progressive bias in the media

It’s interesting that you chose to participate in the Boston Globe’s “Let’s attack Trump on Aug. 16” agenda in Thursdays’ editorial. The First Amendment is not under attack and Trump is not dismantling a constitutional institution. That is absolutely ridiculous. Trump is calling out the obvious Progressive biases and distortions of those particular individuals/enterprises of the mainstream media. What’s the big deal? If the mainstream media were actually living up to its own code of ethics for objective, non-activist journalism they wouldn’t be attacked so relentlessly. It’s interesting how the term “Fake News,” created by the mainstream media against their competition in the alternative media, has been turned around to bite its creator in the “you know where” and stick. Most fitting! Thank goodness we have the First Amendment to allow the alternative media to grow and thrive and offer true competition to the progressive biases of the mainstream media. As far as the mainstream media being the ‘enemy of the people’ I would agree, but not for the reasons you cited in your commentary. By supporting a progressive agenda the Constitution has to be ignored which means the mainstream media are not the eyes and ears for We the People that the First Amendment intended. While playing to identity iolitics and other politically correct doctrines the rule-of-law and E Pluribus Unum are often an oversight to this nation’s detriment. It would be refreshing to read objective news stories based on the US and Arizona constitutions and rule-of-law in relation to our inalienable rights of life, liberty, property and pursuit of happiness. You know, from the perspective of our Founding Fathers.
