Riverfront overlay district to be discussed again by city council
NORFOLK - Expansion of the North Fork of the Elkhorn River overlay district will again be up for discussion by the Norfolk City Council.
At Monday night’s meeting Councilman Rob Merrill gave notice to the mayor and council that at the January 22nd meeting he will rescind the action taken on December 17th on modifying the boundaries of the North Fork of the Elkhorn River Overlay District.
City Attorney Dani Myers-Noelle said Merrill is using Robert’s Rules of Order to conduct this motion.
“What happened on December 17th was unfortunate and doesn’t happen here often. That motion failed because there was a vote of four in favor but there needed to be a fifth vote and had the mayor been properly advised and had he been able to provide that fifth vote that would have proceeded. So we are properly utilizing Robert’s Rules of Order to see that the procedure is followed.”
Discussion and a potential vote will take place at the next city council meeting Tuesday, January 22.
