ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) _ Sophomore defensive back Zia Combs, taken off the field last month with his head immobilized, won’t play again for Michigan.
``It’s certainly a tremendous disappointment,″ coach Lloyd Carr said Monday. ``We’re going to miss his spirit. He will stay in school and finish his degree.″
Carr declined to give details about the nature of Combs’ injury.
He was removed on a stretcher after his helmet struck the midsection of teammate Ernest Shazor as they were trying to down a punt Oct. 12 against Penn State.
