Teen injured in single-vehicle accident north of Beatrice
A Beatrice teen was taken to a local hospital after crashing into a field just north of town Monday night, according to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 11 p.m. Monday, a 16-year-old teen lost control of his 2005 Volkswagen Jetta as he was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 77 south of Hackberry Road, a press release stated.
The car left the roadway and continued into a west ditch, striking the ditch’s dirt embankment and coming to rest in an adjacent field.
The teen was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital for neck pain.
Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Fire joined the sheriff’s office in responding to the accident.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in the accident according to the sheriff’s office. It’s unclear whether the driver was wearing a seat belt.
