ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) _ Marine made up for a slow start and won the $83,475 La Puente Stakes by a half-length over River God and Media Mogul at Santa Anita on Saturday.

Marine, with Eddie Delahoussaye aboard, carried 116 pounds and finished the mile on firm turf in 1:35.30 to pay $11.40, $3.80 and $3.40 in the race for 3-year-olds.

River God, ridden by Alex Solis at 118 pounds, rallied in the stretch to finish in a dead heat for second with Media Mogul, with Chris McCarron aboard. River God, the favorite, paid $2.40 and $2.60, while Media Mogul returned $4.40 and $4.60.

Marine's performance gave trainer Robert Frankel wins in both of Saturday's stakes races. Earlier in the day, Dynamous held off favorite Heads Will Roll to score a half-length victory in the $81,975 Providencia Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

Dynamous, ridden by Victor Espinoza, ran 1 1-8th mile on turf in 1:50.13 and paid $11, $4 and $3.20. Heads Will Roll, with Solis aboard, returned $2.60 and $2.20, and Little Firefly, ridden by Delahoussaye, paid $3.20 to show.
