BNR Wisconsin Dells bank closed after bomb threat
WISCONSIN DELLS — A bank closed down Thursday after it received a bomb threat that later was determined to be a hoax.
Police said Thursday afternoon the Bank of Wisconsin Dells received a threat indicating that “a bomb would go off if a ransom was not paid.”
The bank alerted the Wisconsin Dells Police Department.
Around the same time, officials said, the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network sent out a statewide alert regarding nearly identical threats.
Numerous bomb threats were reported nationwide Thursday, placed with businesses, hospitals and schools.
In Wisconsin Dells, police and bank officials searched the building but found no evidence of a bomb.
The bank closed for the day as a precaution, but is expected to reopen today, the police department said.
