Air quality will bring Mustangs to Dr. Stewart’s on Sunday as well
Poor air quality from fires around the Rogue River basin will bring the Medford Mustangs to Roseburg twice this weekend, and keep Dr. Stewart’s from having to take a van ride to play in the key American Legion AAA baseball Area 4 series.
Medford and the Docs meet at 5 tonight at Bill Gray Stadium at Legion Field in a doubleheader. The teams enter the series separated by four games in the standings.
The Docs were to travel to Medford on Sunday for the final twin bill, but that will be played at Legion Field instead. The first game will begin at 5 p.m. with the Docs as the visiting team.
Medford (33-9 overall) leads Area 4 with a 13-3 record, while the Docs (22-16) are 9-7. A win by the Mustangs in any game of the series will give them the Area 4 crown; a sweep by Dr. Stewart’s would make the Docs the champions.
Dr. Stewart’s hasn’t swept any league opponent this season, but it is 14-2 at Legion Field this season.
The Docs will host the AAA state tournament beginning July 28. Medford will also be in the tournament regardless of the outcome from this weekend’s series.
