Boswell magistrate reports: May 17
The following preliminary hearings are scheduled before District Judge Susan Mankamyer in Boswell:
Debbie Miller, 37, Shaffer Run Road, Somerset, was charged Tuesday with second-degree felony forgery, theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking. According to a probable-cause affidavit, from Aug. 21, 2017, to Oct. 31, 2017, Miller forged checks from a Jenner Township man totaling $2,710. Miller paid the man back $265, according to the affidavit. Miller was arraigned Wednesday before Mankamyer and is free on an unsecured $5,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. May 29.
Stephen Walters, 53, Pitt Street, Jennerstown, was charged Wednesday with third-degree felony criminal use of a communication facility and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver. According to a probable-cause affidavit, on Aug. 17 Walters sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant at his Jennerstown residence. Walters was arraigned Thursday before Mankamyer and is free on an unsecured $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. May 29.Darwin Kalp, 19, Ohio Street, Boswell, was charged Monday with marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession. According to a probable-cause affidavit, on May 4 Conemaugh Township police found a joint and a metal grinder in a vehicle Kalp was driving on Woodstown Highway. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 3.
Driving under the influence
Bradford Miller, 32, Mine Road, Friedens, was charged May 8 with two counts of driving under the influence and seven summary offenses. According to a probable-cause affidavit, at about 12:23 a.m. March 31 state police stopped a vehicle driven by Miller along Million Dollar Highway in Jenner Township for multiple traffic violations. Miller had a blood alcohol content of 0.12%, according to the affidavit. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 31.
