Freeholder filing week begins Monday

August 23, 2018

Filing week begins Monday for those interested in serving on the committee to create a Skagit County charter.

County voters will be able to elect 21 freeholders — seven from each county commissioner district — in the Nov. 6 general election.

Candidates have from 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug 27, to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, to file for a position, said county Elections Supervisor David Cunningham. There is no filing fee.

Filing must be done in person at the county Elections Office, in the County Administrative Building, 700 S. Second St., Mount Vernon.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, be registered voters in Skagit County and have lived in the county for at least five years.

A map of county commissioner districts is available on the commissioners’ website.
