Curtis Leo Kalmes -- Rochester

Curtis Leo Kalmes, 90, of Rochester, died Jan. 31, 2019, at Saint Marys Hospital.

Curt was born on Jan. 9, 1929, in Winona, to Leo and Erma (Kramer) Kalmes.

He married Maxine Rupprecht on Aug. 4, 1950, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Rochester. Curt graduated from Lewiston High School in 1947. He had a 40-year career at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, was president of the Mayo Clinic Credit Union for many years, a member of the Rochester Catholic School Board, and a member of the St. Pius Council.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, camping and golfing in the Mayo Clinic Golf League and spending time at their lake place in Shell Lake Wisconsin with family.

He is survived by his children, Bruce (Patricia) of Andover, Mark (Karen) of Rochester, Sue Paxton (Merle) of Rochester, and Mary Rahman (Dave) of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; and a sister, Arlene (Tom) Burns of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Erma; and a brother, LeRoy.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Rochester, with Rev. Russell Scepaniak and Rev. Michael Cronin as an officant. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Curtis’ name to Elder Network, Bear Creek Services or a charity of your choice.
