Cops: Concerned motorists notified police of alleged North Huntingdon assault
Motorists driving on Route 993 near Larimer directed North Huntingdon police to the scene of an alleged assaultTuesday.
Police officer Thomas Harris reported in court documents that around 3 p.m. motorists reported a woman who appeared to be bleeding from injuries standing along the highway outside an apartment. The 26-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics, police said.
Police said Kraig A. Caldarelli, 27, of Larimer, was arrested shortly after fleeing the apartment. He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, strangulation and harassment in connection with the assault, according to court documents.
The woman told police that during an argument Caldarelli threw her across the kitchen where she struck her head on a glass coffee pot, causing it to shatter. According to court documents, the woman also alleged she was choked by Caldarelli.
Harris reported he saw scratch marks to the victim’s neck and a bite mark on her left hand.
Caldarelli was arraigned before District Judge Joseph DeMarchis and ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $25,000 bail.
