University of Buffalo latest to sell beer at sporting events

November 24, 2018

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Call them the Buffalo Brews.

The University of Buffalo says that starting Saturday it’ll be selling beer at select campus sporting events.

The Bulls’ men’s basketball game against Marist at Alumni Arena is first up after the school received state approval for a liquor license on Wednesday.

Athletic director Mark Alnutt says the state university will also be setting up beer stands at women’s basketball games and, starting next year, at football games.

Bud Light and other Anheuser-Busch products will be on tap.

Buffalo joins dozens of colleges in selling beer at campus venues, including six other Mid-American Conference schools.

This year, the NCAA started allowing alcohol sales at its highest-level sports championships.

Alnutt says beer won’t be sold near the student section at football games.
