McCaw back for Crusaders in Super Rugby semifinal
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — All Blacks captain Richie McCaw has been named at blindside flanker in the Crusaders’ starting lineup for Saturday’s Super Rugby semifinal against the Sharks.
McCaw has been sidelined since he suffered a broken rib during New Zealand’s June test series against England and will play away from his usual position att openside flanker where Matt Todd has been retained.
Corey Flynn has also been named as hooker in his 150th Super Rugby match as the Christchurch-based Crusaders have looked for experience to match the Sharks’ formidable front row which includes Springbok brothers Jannie and Bismarck du Plessis.
McCaw has displaced Jordan Taufua and Flynn replaces Ben Funnell, both of who are named on the bench.
The New South Wales Waratahs will play the ACT Brumbies in the other semifinal.
