Police Roundup: Two arrested after HPD sweep of 8th Avenue residence

HUNTINGTON - Two people were arrested on felony drug charges Thursday following the execution of a search warrant at 524 1/2 8th Ave., according to the Huntington Police Department.

Deontae Cortez Hale, aka “Smooth,” of Romulus, Michigan, was charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs and obstructing an officer. Penny M. Spears, of Huntington, was charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs.

During the search, officers with the Huntington Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau recovered suspected heroin, pills, marijuana, cash, materials used for packaging drugs and scales. A vehicle also was seized.

The property owner will be issued a nuisance letter for the drug activity and will have 10 days to respond, according to police.

The Huntington Police Department listed 21 new incident reports in the 24-hour period ending at 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the printout released by the department. However, the individual police reports were not made available, so these are the only known details:

Possession of a controlled substance, 2:46 a.m. Thursday, 1500 block of 6th Avenue.

Joyriding - stolen vehicle without intent to permanently deprive, grand larceny, 6:22 p.m. Wednesday, 2700 block of Parsons Street.

Warrant service/execution, 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, 3500 block of 3rd Avenue.

Breaking and entering auto, 1 a.m. Nov. 17, 3400 block of Bradley Road.

Petit larceny, 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, 600 block of 4th Avenue.

Petit larceny, 5 p.m. Tuesday, 200 block of Short Street, Guyandotte.

Petit larceny, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, 200 block of West 9th Avenue.

Intoxicating substances, prohibited acts, 6:09 p.m. Wednesday, 900 block of Hal Greer Boulevard.

Fraudulent use of a credit card - value less than $1,000, petit larceny, 8 p.m. Tuesday, 800 block of 8th Street.

Destruction of property - misdemeanor, 5:18 p.m. Wednesday, 2400 block of 1st Avenue.

Petit larceny, breaking and entering auto, 8 a.m. Wednesday, 1600 block of 6th Avenue.

Domestic assault, 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, 300 block of West 5th Avenue.

Petit larceny, destruction of property - misdemeanor, breaking and entering auto, 2 a.m. Tuesday, 1900 block of Virginia Avenue.

Petit larceny, breaking and entering auto, 7 p.m. Tuesday, 1400 block of 6th Avenue.

Destruction of property - misdemeanor, noon Aug. 1, 400 block of West 3rd Street.

Grand larceny, 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, 500 block of 30th Street.

Petit larceny, destruction of property - misdemeanor, burglary, entry of dwelling or outhouse, midnight Wednesday, 1900 block of 7th Avenue.

Fugitive from justice, 1:06 a.m. Wednesday, 900 block of 11th Street.

The following information was provided by booking records kept at Western Regional Jail:

Jacob Ryan Ferguson, 19, was jailed at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with breaking and entering. Bond was not set.

Jonathan Nicholas Thompson, 38, was jailed at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with being a fugitive from justice. Bond was not set.

Chadd Alan Collins, 29, was jailed at 12:15 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with bond violation. Bond was not set.

Roger Timothy Lawrence, 45, was jailed at 1:35 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County arrested him on bailpiece. Bond was not set.

Christopher Adam Tomer, 24, was jailed at noon Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with bond violation. Bond was not set.
