REXBURG—Experience Rexburg is back for its second year in Rexburg.

The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 2nd South and Center Street.

According to a press release from the City of Rexburg, there will be food vendors, entertainment, and a potato bar later in the day that is free to the public.

According to the press release, Thor’s Hammer will be performing at the beehive pavilion at Porter Park at 7 p.m.

The Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce will also have their chili cook-off at the event.

Participants are asked to bring their chili in a crock pot to “the grassy field on College Ave., where the Farmer’s Market is held,” according to the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

According to the press release, citizens and students interested in signing up for the cook-off are asked to go to the City Hall located at 35 North 1st East or to sign up online at http://bit.ly/rexburgchili.

“The event will begin by ceremoniously welcoming the students to Rexburg,” according to the press release. “At 10:30 a.m. students will walk down from the Manwaring Center, led by Student Life Vice President Amy LaBaugh to Center Street where the students will be welcomed into Rexburg by Mayor Jerry Merrill and the local community.”

According to the press release everyone is invited to the party.

“The whole vision behind it is to take the two communities, the students and the locals and bring them together in one big event. It’s an opportunity to learn a bit about Rexburg, its history, local businesses, and bring them all together for one day,” said Jackie Rawlins, Cultural Arts Director, and Museum Curator.
