White Youths Accused of Tormenting Black Families
PLYMOUTH, Conn. (AP) _ A white teen-ager has been charged with hurling racial insults at two black families and hanging a teddy bear marked KKK from a tree outside their home.
Frank Doucet Jr., 18, was charged Wednesday with intimidation based on bigotry or bias. Police say they expect to file similar charges against another teen-ager involved in the alleged incident.
Police say Doucet was part of a gang of teen-agers that has been harassing the families for several months. The racial insults began in May, shortly after the first family moved into the three-family house in the predominantly white town, police said.
Of about 11,000 residents in Plymouth, an estimated 20 are black.
