IMMIGRATION-SEPARATING FAMILIES-CONNECTICUT

Lawyers for two children separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border and detained in Connecticut will be in court Wednesday asking for an order to reunite the kids with their parents, who are seeking asylum. Supporters of the 9-year-old boy from Honduras and a 14-year-old girl from El Salvador also plan to rally outside the federal courthouse. By Dave Collins. UPCOMING: 350 words by 3 p.m.

— CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGE: A 63-year-old Bridgeport man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl. Luis Valbuena was held on $250,000 bond at his arraignment Tuesday on charges including first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child. SENT: 130 words.

— FAKE DROWNING: Police have arrested a Connecticut man for calling 911 to report a fake drowning. Authorities say the 34-year-old man called to report a child drowning in Hartford Monday afternoon in order to gauge emergency response times. SENT: 130 words.
