Hot Property Private, ‘park-like’ five-bedroom in exclusive Stallion Trails

August 6, 2018

Ronald Nyman and Len Schwartz of Keller Williams listed 9 Stallion Trail — a five-bedroom single-family residence in exclusive Stallion Trails — for $2.95 million.

Larry Rutkowski is selling the property he acquired as a family residence in 2006.

“The house was perfect for us,” Rutkowski recalled. “We loved the park-like serene setting in a gated community. While at the same time, we had easy access to town and to the Merritt Parkway for trips to New York City.”

Built in 1981, this expansive colonial affords 7,647 square feet of living space, striking herringbone hardwood flooring, and a marble atrium with an 18-foot high glass roof.

Among the main living spaces are a formal living room, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen, family room and a “pub room.”

In the years since he acquired the property, Rutkowski made a number of significant improvements to it.

“Every area of the house was fully remodeled since we purchased it,” Rutkowski said, citing a new oak staircase and a “total renovation of the gourmet kitchen.”

The kitchen has been designed with granite counters and vintage copper sinks, and it is equipped with high-end appliances. There are two Sub-Zero refrigerators, a Thermador range, and both convection and warming ovens.

“Plus, we added a master bedroom suite with cathedral ceilings, an entertainment room, an antique wood bar room; a sauna and steam room,” he noted. “In addition, we added many of the new gardens and enhanced the landscaping.”

The master suite the homeowners created has rustic oak beams that cross the peaked ceilings, and the master bath that has both a Jacuzzi tub for two and a steam shower. Radiant-heat flooring keeps it cozy and warm all year round.

The master suite is one of five bedrooms here, and at least one of the en-suite bedrooms could be leveraged for live-in help or extended-stay guests.

Special details and attributes about the home combine to “make you feel like you’re living in a five-star resort,” Rutkowski said — things like a Juliet balcony off the master suite; the antique Belgium Oak bar; the pool, spa and terrace setting; and the lot which is bordered by 2 acres of conservation land.

The lower level has been fully utilized, as well, with a climate-controlled wine vault and a hot rocks sauna.

The house and the grounds were particularly favorable for entertaining, the seller confirmed. “The open area of the foyer, atrium, dining and bar room were perfect for formal entertaining all year long,” Rutkowski said. “This area leads to the large deck and pool area — great for entertaining in the summer months.

“As the former owner of Wine Wise in town, we frequently hosted wine tastings, including in the arbor-vineyard area,” he fondly recalled.

“Stallion Trails is a perfect location to raise a family,” the homeowner suggested. “The gated community gave us a great sense of security, and the children were able to connect very quickly to other children in the neighborhood. It feels a bit exclusive,” Rutkowski said, “but very community-oriented, with block parties and gatherings. There is enough space between homes, to maintain your privacy in the estate.”

A public open house will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 5.
