REALTOR OF THE WEEK Real estate a lifelong interest for Mary Piper

April 14, 2019

Mary Piper with Bernstein Realty is a fully licensed Realtor, and she has somewhat of a unique position within the company.

Piper was borne in England, traveled internationally, and landed in a small village in Scotland. It was from this small village that she came to Houston in 1995.

“When I first arrived in Houston, it was and still is a very large city and it was very different than where I had lived or traveled before,” Piper said.

Her first job in Houston was as the assistant to the property manager at Bernstein Realty in 2000. Three years later, she obtained her real estate licenses.

“Real estate was always something I had been interested in and I was thrilled to finally have my licenses,” Piper said.

Today, Piper serves as the operations and relocation director at Bernstein Realty.

“I serve as a liaison for third-party relocation companies for those moving to or out of Houston. A relocation management company manages every aspect of a move. Bernstein Realty handles the real estate component. If people moving here want to buy or rent a house, we help them find what they are looking for and if people are leaving Houston we list or rent their homes,” Piper said.

Bernstein Realty is a full-service residential real estate company that also offers relocation services and property management services.

“Being that I have moved internationally, I understand what those moving to or from Houston feel, and they mostly feel the same way. They are leaving behind friends and family and are moving to a strange city. The kids are entering a new school, and one spouse is entering a new job and the other spouse is trying to find where they fit in the new community, in this new life. So, it can be hard, they have fears and anxiety, and we are there for them,” Piper said.

When people are moving to Houston, the agents at Bernstein Realty provide tours of different areas, showing all Houston and neighborhoods have to offer including amenities and schools, helping these families find the community that best works for them.

“I love people. I love working relocations. I love working at Bernstein Realty and I cannot imagine doing anything else. I have the perfect job. The only thing that could make it better would be to bring my dogs to work,” Piper said.
