Ridgefield student, walkout organizer wins fellowship

RIDGEFIELD — High school student and National School Walkout organizer Lane Murdock has been selected for a year-long Giffords Courage Fellowship.

The fellowship, in its first year, will bring 28 student leaders to Washington DC this week for a three-day team building and organizing workshop. The program will then participate in activities throughout the year that will give them the resources and opportunities to improve gun safety laws where they live, a release said.

Murdock is a junior at Ridgefield High School and founded the National School Walkout, a walkout against gun violence which about 2,700 schools participated in no the anniversary of the Colombine shooting this April.
