Library receives grant funding for book club
NORFOLK - The Norfolk Public Library is set to work with teens from the Alternatives for Success Program after receiving grant funding for a special book club.
Assistant Youth Services Librarian Amber Peterson says the library is one of 100 libraries nationwide to be selected to take part in the Great Stories Club.
Peterson says they’ll read and discuss stories that explore the concept of empathy, and what it means to be a hero.
“I am always looking for ways the library can partner with organizations and the public. I’m really excited to start this partnership with Alternatives for Success and just have another way to reach teens in our area” Peterson said.
She says the grant will provide copies of each book for the students and also pay for an orientation workshop Peterson will attend in Chicago.
The grant is offered by the American Library Association.
