Cape Cod man charged with murder to go on trial in October
BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — A 19-year-old Cape Cod man charged with fatally stabbing another man at a party has been scheduled for trial this fall.
The Cape Cod Times reports that opening arguments in the murder trial of Kelly Ridley Jr. are scheduled to begin Oct. 24 in Barnstable Superior Court.
Ridley has pleaded not guilty in the 2016 death of 26-year-old Thomas Russell Jr.
Ridley was 218 at the time.
His attorney, Christopher Belezos, said Monday during a pretrial hearing he would call an adolescent brain expert to testify about “adolescent decision making.”
Prosecutors have agreed to meet with Belezos to discuss any issues concerning the expert witness on Sept. 7.
Police say Russell charged toward Ridley and was stabbed several times during a party in Hyannis.
