Treasury Bond Prices Rise
NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were higher at midday.
The price of the Treasury’s main 30-year bond was up 5/8 point, or $6.25 per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield fell to 5.09 percent from 5.13 percent late Thursday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills rose to 4.34 percent as the discount gained 0.04 percentage point to 4.24 percent. Six-month yields were steady at 4.41 percent as the discount was 4.27 percent. One-year yields were steady at 4.45 percent as the discount was 4.26 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
