DUNDALK, Md. (AP) _ Two adults and four children were found dead in a house fire in suburban Baltimore early today, fire officials said.

The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m., and flames were so intense firefighters called in a second alarm soon after arriving, said Lt. Glen Blackwell of the Baltimore County Fire Department.

The fire was extinguished in about an hour.

Department spokesman Mark Hubbard said there was heavy fire in the back of the house on the first and second floors, ``making a rescue attempt futile.''

Officials could not immediately identify the victims, though officials said they believed they were members of the same family.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
