Former First Vice President Denies Role In Coup Plot
FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) _ Former First Vice President Francis Minah today denied that he took part in an alleged plot to assassinate President Joseph Momoh.
Minah said he never plotted to overthrow the government of the West African nation or conspired with any of the 17 other people accused in connection with the coup attempt.
Prosecutors have charged during the four-month trial that Minah conspired with a former police superintendant and a prominent Lebanese businessman to assassinate Momoh and install himself as leader.
Minah was dismissed after police foiled the March 23 coup attempt.
