Relay for Life of La Porte County golf scramble

The Relay for Life of La Porte County will host a golf scramble on June 15 at Beechwood Golf Course in La Porte. Registration is at noon with a lite lunch. A shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. and will have a four-man scramble format. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. with team awards and a cash bar. Cost is $75 per golfer or $300 per team. St. Stan’s 5K Saturday

St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church will hold the seventh annual St. Stanislaus 5K run on Saturday at Nelson Park in Trail Creek. Race proceeds will fund needed repairs to St. Stanislaus Church, one of LaPorte County’s oldest Catholic churches. The race course treks through the beautiful surroundings of Nelson Park and Trail Creek. Unique plaques will be given in eight age divisions for women, men and children, plus the top three overall female and male runners and the top female and male walkers. Race entry forms are available at the school, the Trail Creek Town Hall and Robert Tylisz Appliance. Entry forms can be downloaded at ststanstc5Krunwalk.com or enter online at RunSignUp.com. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Soccer Camp

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church hosts a soccer camp June 17-June 21. The main camp is for ages 5-12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 17-June 21. The beginners’ camp is for ages 3-4 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 18-21. Cost is $20 per child. (Timely payment of this fee secures your child’s spot.) Registrations and fee payment must be completed by June 1. Space is limited and there’s a cap on the number of participants allowed in each age level.

Each registered and participating child will receive a T-shirt and additional sports item. Participants must bring cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards and water. Beginners’ Camp participants should bring athletic shoes and water. Qualifying families may contact Beautiful Savior directly to inquire about camp scholarships. McLain to appear in Three Oaks

The Biggest Little Baseball Museum and the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Mich., will host Denny McLain, baseball’s last 30-game winner, on June 22. The former Detroit Tiger, who won the American League MVP and Cy Young awards in 1968, when he went 31-6, will conduct an autograph session at the museum, located at 3 N. Elm St., from 9-11 a.m. At 11:30, he will appear on stage at the nearby Acorn Theater, where he will reminisce with fans about his teammates and the ’68 world championship season. The presentation will be followed by another autograph session in the theater lobby. The $10 theater admission price includes a hot dog, unlimited soft drinks, and a box of Cracker Jack. There will also be a cash bar. Tickets are available on the Acorn website at www.acornlive.org.
