ST. LOUIS (AP) _ St. Louis Blues winger Keith Tkachuk will be out four-to-six weeks with a broken left foot.
Blues general manager Larry Pleau said Friday that Tkachuk won’t need surgery, just time to heal.
Tkachuk was injured in the third period of Wednesday night’s 7-0 victory over Nashville, when a puck hit his foot. He limped off the ice but returned for a few shifts.
After the game, Tkachuk’s wife gave birth to the couple’s third child, a girl. That delayed an MRI for Tkachuk until Thursday, when the fracture was discovered.
Tkachuk had a team-high 38 goals last season, his first full year with the team, and he finished second in points with 75. He had four goals and four assists this season as the Blues started 6-1-1, the second-best start in franchise history.
Last month, Tkachuk agreed to a guaranteed four-year deal worth $40 million, with a club option for a fifth year that would add another $5 million to the deal.
