StingRays 70, Power 69

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) _ Venus Lacy’s layup with 1.9 seconds left lifted the Long Beach StingRays to a 70-69 win over Portland, eliminating the Power from the semifinals of the American Basketball League playoffs.

Natalie Williams led the Power _ the ABL’s Western Conference champions _ with 27 points and 13 rebounds. She scored with 16.2 seconds left on a pass from Katy Steding to give the Power a 69-68 lead.

Elaine Powell missed a free throw, then Williams blocked a breakway by Yolanda Griffith. The ball went out of bounds, setting up the winning play on an inbounds pass from Andrea Nagy.

Katy Steding missed a 3-pointer as time ran out to douse Portland’s chances.

Lacy led the StingRays with 20 points, Beverly Williams added 16 and Griffith had 15 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

Molly Goodenbour added 18 points for the Power.
