WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — Celtics star Isaiah Thomas says it’s too early to tell if he needs surgery on his right hip. He says the swelling must go down before there is a decision on how to rehab. He says surgery is “not the No. 1 option right now.” The injury knocked the Boston point guard out of the Eastern Conference finals in Game 2. The Celtics won the next game without him, but Cleveland went on to win the series in five games.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tom Lasorda is recovering after surgery yesterday to replace his pacemaker. Lasorda, who guided the team to two World Series, has spent nearly seven decades in the Dodgers organization, beginning as a minor league pitcher in 1949. He’s now a special adviser to the team’s chairman.
