Cambria man guilty of breaking into Oak Grove home
JUNEAU — A 31-year-old Cambria man was found guilty Tuesday of breaking into a town of Oak Grove home in May.
Antonio L. Gamez pleaded no contest to a felony burglary charge during a plea hearing in Dodge County Circuit Court on Tuesday. A bail jumping charge was dismissed but read into the record.
According to the criminal complaint, Dodge County deputies responded to a home on North Grove Road in the town of Oak Grove on May 19 at 2:45 a.m. for a burglary that had just occurred.
The woman at the home said she was sleeping when she saw a light turn on and off. The woman went to check and asked, “What are you doing?” The woman was pushed out of the way after the man became aware of her and fled the house.
The deputies investigated and found a GPS and some quarters were missing from a vehicle.
There were also indications that he attempted to enter the home in several other ways before entering through the front door. A class ring was missing from inside the house.
The woman provided the deputies a description of a man that matched a person who had been involved in a one-vehicle crash nearby.
The man was uncooperative with the police, but was identified as Gamez. The stolen items were found in the vehicle.
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled on Dec. 13.
