NEW YORK (AP) — New York City has shut down a Brooklyn parking lot where a four-year-old girl was killed last month in a hit-and-run crash.
The city’s buildings department said Friday that Clean City Laundry’s lot was illegal and ordered all vehicles and parking lines removed.
The department said barricades must also be installed so drivers don’t try parking there.
A woman answering the phone at Clean City Laundry said the owner wasn’t available to talk.
Luz Gonzalez was struck and killed by an SUV leaving the parking lot on June 24.
Surveillance video showed the girl losing her shoe while riding a scooter on the sidewalk and her mother bending to pick it up. That’s when the SUV hit them both.
Police stopped the driver two blocks away. No charges have been filed.
