Winfield wins team titles at Hurricane track meet Saturday

HURRICANE, W.Va. — Winfield boys and girls won team titles Saturday at the Hurricane Sheetz Invitational high school track and field meet.

Gavin Beverage led Cabell Midland to second place in the boys meet as a double-winner in the shot put (63-feet, 5 inches) and discus (164-9.50).

Cabell Midland’s 4x800 relay (Kaden Salmons, Ben Parker, Jackson Gibson, Jacob Ashworth) with a time of 8:32.29. The Knights also took first in the 4x110 shuttle hurdles (Zach Swanson, Stevie Ball, Josh Adkins, Gabe Savage) with a time of 1:03.44.

Aaron Withrow for the Winfield boys was first in the 1600 (4:18.19) and the 3200 (9:32.96).

Huntington High’s girls finished first in the 4x102.5 shuttle hurdles (Alezha Turner, Ana Bradshaw, Makenzie Grier, Marissa Riggs) with a time of 1:10.54.

Allie Germann from Winfield on the girls 100 (12.74) and the long jump (16-0.25).
