Greenwich Academy shuts out Gunnery
Hamilton Doster tallied twice, while Grace Schulze registered one goal and two assists in Greenwich Academy’s decisive 5-0 road win over The Gunnery in a NEPSAC hockey game held on Saturday.
Grace Curran opened the scoring for the Gators, tallying with 4:31 remaining in the first period. Assisting on the goal were Bobbi Roca and Hamilton Doster.
Doster, a freshman, gave GA a 2-0 lead by scoring with 1:14 left in the second period.
“It was a huge win for us, as we try to earn one of the spots in the New England Tournament,” Greenwich Academy coach Erin Brawley said. “It was a total team effort.”
Schulze, a junior, notched a goal with 57 seconds left to play in the second period, giving the Gators a 3-0 advantage. Doster’s second goal came at the 12:49 mark of the third period off a pass from Schulze.
Senior Bobbi Roca sealed the scoring for GA, tallying with 8:30 to go in the final period.
“It was a back-and-forth battle,” Brawley said. “We played with great pace.”
Greenwich Academy, which improved its record to 8-7-1, is back in action Monday at The Hill School.
