NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a car ran over two sunbathers at a Florida beach.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the injuries occurred Thursday on New Smyrna Beach.

Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue says a 78-year-old man apparently suffered a medical episode, causing him to lose control and hit the two people. A passenger in the vehicle managed to grab the wheel and turn the car back onto the main driving lane.

The injuries to the two sunbathers weren't considered life-threatening.
