DRACUT -- The Greater Lowell Community Foundation next month will host an event celebrating the impact of philanthropy that will feature City Manager Eileen Donoghue. The ‘Celebrate Giving’ program will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Lenzi’s (810 Merrimack Ave., Dracut), according to the event flyer. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. Those interested in attending must RSVP by Sept. 28 and tickets are $100 per person. Last call for Town Meeting

TEWKSBURY -- Friday, Sept. 21 is the final day to register to vote in the Special Town Meeting, set for Tuesday, Oct. 2. A voter registration session will be held at Town Hall, located at 1009 Main St., from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 21. Current registered voters in Tewksbury do not have to re-register to vote in the Special Town Meeting, which will take place at the Tewksbury Memorial High School. Those eligible to register are United States citizens who will be 18 years or older on or before Oct. 2. Voter registrations can be completed by mail or online at www.RegisterToVoteMA.com .

Rooftop garden growing event

LOWELL -- Element Care will be celebrating its Urban Rooftop Garden grand opening next month. Co-hosted by Mill City Grows with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Lowell Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Oct. 3 at 166 Central Street in Lowell. The rooftop garden, located on the third floor of Element Care’s Lowell APCE Center, provides a space for participants to grow produce and learn about the importance of healthy eating. All participants and staff have access to it.

Annual Big Heart 5K on Sept. 22

DRACUT -- The annual Middlemiss Big Heart 5K takes place on Saturday, Sept. 22, starting at Brookside Elementary School.

Proceeds from the race assist the Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation in achieving its goals of supporting pediatric cardiac research, supporting heart warrior families at Boston Childrens’ Hospital, and kindness initiatives in schools and around the country.

Bike, run or both to fight MS

DRACUT -- MS is BS Dracut Inc. will host its fourth annual 5K/duathlon next month. The event will be held on Oct. 6 at the Dillon-McAnespie Park at 2169 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Those interested in signing up can do so online at www.MSisBSDracut.com or in person on the day of the event. It costs $30 to register for the 5K or Bike portion and $35 to register for the duathlon portion (5K run and 5 mile mountain bike ride). Race day registration takes place from 8:30 a.m.-9:45 a.m. and the race will start at 10 a.m. MS is BS Dracut Inc. is a local non-profit organization that supports multiple sclerosis parents in the Merrimack Valley area.
