English League One game off due to ‘medical emergency’

September 22, 2018

BARNSLEY, England (AP) — The English League One game between Barnsley and Burton was postponed because of “a medical emergency” on Saturday.

The kickoff was initially delayed as an air ambulance landed on the pitch at Oakwell, and the match was eventually called off around 30 minutes later.

“It has been announced here at Oakwell that, due to a medical emergency, today’s game ... has been postponed,” Burton wrote on its Twitter feed. “It goes without saying, but all our thoughts are with those affected.”

No further details were immediately available.
