Jury deliberates in trial of man charged with killing 2
WATERLOO, N.Y. (AP) — Jury deliberations are underway in the trial of an upstate New York man charged with fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and a man and wounding a third person last summer.
A Seneca County jury began deliberations Tuesday in the trial of 48-year-old Emerson “John” Tohafjian, who’s charged with gunning down 53-year-old Lori McConnell and 45-year-old Chuck Andrus at an apartment house in the village of Waterloo on July 10.
Andrus’ girlfriend, Karen Zdunko, survived the shooting. She testified during the trial that Tohafjian opened fire soon after the two women had returned to her apartment after drinking at a local bar.
Tohafjian was captured at a nearby campground the following day.
