Honesdale Man To Serve Up To Seven Years For Drug Count
HONESDALE — A borough man, Richard Garth Weiss, 46, was sentenced today to 28 months to seven years in state prison for possessing 92 packets of heroin with the intent to deliver, Wayne County District Attorney Patrick L. Robinson said.
On April 30 at about 12:14 a.m., state police pulled over a vehicle in Salem Twp. for a minor vehicle violation. Weiss was a passenger and police saw a hypodermic needle by his feet, Robinson said. When Weiss got out of the vehicle, he tried to run but police chased and tackled him. Weiss possessed 92 unopened heroin packets and his cell phone had text messages from him requesting narcotics, according to officials.
