WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) _ Terry Cress hit two free throws with 10 second left, his only points of the game, to give Northern Iowa a 68-66 win over Tennessee State Sunday after the Panthers blew an 11-point margin in the second half.

Northern Iowa, 5-1, scored the first nine points after intermission to lead 39-28 and built the margin to 11 again, 48-37, on a 3-pointer by Brian Heying with 10:47 left. But Tennessee State, 3-3, clawed back and trailed by just a point at 64-63 when Jamie Roberts made a layup with :44 left.

Twenty seconds later, Darian DeVries hit two free throws and two more by Cress made it 68-63. Roberts nailed a 3-pointer to finish the scoring with three seconds left.

Tony Brus led Northern Iowa with 15, 10 in the first half, while Burt Lappe added 14 and DeVries 13. Tennessee State's Kevin Samuel led all scorers with 23 and Keith Samuel added 16.
