AVILA, Spain (AP) _ Roberto Heras held on to his hefty overall lead in the Tour of Spain, sticking with the main pack of riders Friday in the 19th stage, which was won by Mariano Piccoli.

Heras, a Spaniard, has led the standings for a week. With three days to go, he is 3 minutes, 41 seconds ahead of countryman Angel Casero, and 4:50 ahead of Russia's Pavel Tonkov.

None of the top contenders making any serious breakaways on Friday, and Heras finished in a large group, 5:49 behind Piccoli.

Italy's Piccoli edged Saulius Sarkauskas and Laurent Brochard in a closing sprint. Piccoli covered the 80 miles from Salamanca to Avila in 3 hours, 12 minutes, 49 seconds, for his second stage victory in this year's Tour of Spain.

Saturday's 18th stage is 80 miles from Avila to Alto de Abantos. The tour finishes Sunday in Madrid.
