PHOENIX _ Federal investigators say a pilot flew a medical helicopter beyond its capabilities on a high-speed, low-level flight across mountainous east-central Arizona before it hit a slope on a ridge, killing two of the crew members aboard. A National Transportation Safety Board final report on the Dec. 15, 2015, crash said the pilot lost control of the helicopter as the combination of high speed and other factors overtaxed the hydraulics system, causing a phenomenon known as servo transparency. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. _ An Alabama firm is partnering with a Colorado company to build a manufacturing facility that would produce supersonic aircraft. Hoar Program Management of Birmingham will help locate, plan, design and build the facility for Boom Supersonic, which is planning a supersonic commercial airliner for transoceanic routes, the news site Al.com reported. RENEWABLE ENERGY SCAM _ A Colorado man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a scheme in which he and others filed false claims for tax credits under a federal program that encourages production and use of renewable energy.

SMALL PLANE CRASH _ Three people survived a small plane crash Saturday in Larimer County in northeast Colorado. The plane went down about 10:45 a.m. Saturday near Boyd Lake in Loveland.

COAL PRODUCTION _ Production at Colorado coal mines dipped slightly last year from 2017 levels.

WATER ON CONGRESSMAN-CHARGES _ A Colorado man faces misdemeanor charges for allegedly throwing water on Iowa Rep. Steve King while the Republican congressman was eating lunch in Fort Dodge, Iowa.



DENVER _ The Colorado Avalanche try to stay in the driver’s seat for a playoff spot Saturday when they play Chicago in the first of a home-and-home set with the Blackhawks.
