TRUMP WILL NOT ATTEND KENNEDY CENTER HONORS

NEW YORK (AP) — People hoping to see a showdown when Cher gets a Kennedy Center Honor from President Donald Trump on Dec. 2 will be disappointed. Neither Trump nor his wife, Melania, will attend the event, according to the first lady’s director of communications, Stephanie Grisham. She did not give a reason for the Trumps skipping the Kennedy Center Honors for a second year in a row. “Hamilton” playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, another Trump critic, will be honored this year, along with Reba McEntire, composer Philip Glass and jazz musician Wayne Shorter. Grisham says it’s unlikely there will be any new winners of the National Medal of Arts or National Humanities Medals announced before the end of the year. Those awards have not been given out since September 2016 under President Barack Obama.

CMA AWARDS ARE TONIGHT

NASHVILLE (AP) — Dan and Shay joke they may have won an award for longest rehearsal ever for the Country Music Association Awards. Shay Mooney says it took them two hours. Dan Smyers says they have a lot of stunts, some of which could be dangerous, so they had to work out that everyone was in the right spot at the right time. Dierks (DURKS) Bentley and Brothers Osborne are planning a rendition of “Burning Man” that uses pyrotechnics. John Osborne says he’s developing a glaze after rehearsing with so much fire. As for the awards, Chris Stapleton leads the nominations with five. The CMAs will air live from Nashville tonight on ABC.
